Our Board of Directors

Function of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BOD) functions as the fiduciary overseers and the administrative coordinators of the Church. These are Members in good standing and are voted into delegated time positions by Members of the Congregation. They function in the best interest of the Congregation as a whole.

The present Board of Directors are:

At home, Barbara spends her time with her fiancée and partner of 29 years, Mary Ann, their adult daughters Donna and Lisa and their Grandson Bryan. At night she relaxes by getting online, fixing computers, meditating, chanting with Mary Ann and conversing with God. Barbara loves to read, ride her bike and help work in their yard which has many plants to attract Hummingbirds which she is enamored of. Sitting, watching and waiting for the little "gifts from God" to come and feed in their yard.

Pastor Danny joined the community of HCMCC as its Pastor July 30th, 2007. In 1974, he left the Apostolic Pentecostal tradition in which he was raised, and joined MCC in 1981. Danny was ordained as MCC clergy in November 2001, and served as Pastor of MCC Corpus Christi from December 2001 until July 2007.

Danny embraces what may be called a "Progressive Evolutionary Christian Spirituality", which emphasizes the non-coercive presence of Spirit in all levels of creation; and he believes our understanding of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit evolves over time as we learn more about the interconnectedness of all creation (both human and other-than-human).

Danny holds a Master's of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and is a candidate in its Doctor of Ministry program, as well. As his free time allows, Danny enjoys cycling, yoga, and cooking. He and his husband, Richard, live in Brookfield with their three cats, Powder, Tony, and Cleo.

Barbara has been involved with "the little white church on the corner" since 2004. She served on the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2009, and recently ran again in November 2010 and was elected by the congregation for a two year appointment. Barbara reads, acolytes and is an usher during services. She cooks for the Pilsen outreach and volunteers for various different ministries in the church.

Barbara has an Associates Degree in Graphic Design and has been working at Justrite Manufacturing for 38 years and is currently one of two Graphic Designers in her company.

Audrey is a mother of three and a grandmother of five. (soon to be six)  Recently, she retired after working for 20 years in the Chicago Public School System.

After becoming a Member of Holy Covenant, Audrey began working as an usher - this was a wonderful way for her to get to know not only the regular congregants, but any new people coming to church. Since then, she has become a member of the Board of Directors, a member of the last Pastoral Search Committee, a Sunday School teacher and an organizer for the Night Ministry's Pilsen outreach. She is also involved with a variety of church fundraisers, including the annual "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" and "Breakfast with Santa" events.
